Types of Garlic: Softneck Garlic
Unlike hardneck garlic, the cloves of softneck garlic aren’t clustered around a stalk stemming out from the middle. Moreover, the size and shape of softneck garlic cloves are not identical to those of hardneck garlic cloves.
The artichoke garlic gets its name from the way its cloves’ arrangement resembles the actual architoke, i.e., both have a layered structure. Each bulb consists of around 10 to 14 cloves of varying shapes and sizes.
As the name suggests, silverskin garlic consists of white or silver bulb wrappers and around 3 to 8 clove layers. The outer cloves of silverskin garlic are bigger in size compared to the inner layer cloves.
The creole garlic, often confused as a part of the silverskin family, are a separate sub-variety of softneck garlic. These are the elite garlic species everyone is willing to pay for. They are rare and quite expensive. They also come in unique colors ranging from red to purple – pretty to look at, delicious to eat.
How To Store Different Types Of Gаrlіс
As we mentioned earlier, garlic is quite low maintenance so you don’t have to worry about the proper storage process. You don’t even need to refrigerate it. It can easily be stored at room temperature for months!
